Steve Jobs – The Visionary and Entrepreneur – 1955 to 2011

Steve Jobs was a brilliant visionary, an entrepreneur that many aspire to be and he had a tremendous impact on the world of technology. Regardless of which camp you belong to, no one can deny the influence and impact that his creation – the iPhone – has on the smartphone domain in general. If nothing else, it has taught the market what users really want and need.

For all his accomplishments and contributions, it was his ideals and philosophies that define the man. It was just last night that I was watching a Youtube video of the speech he gave at Stanford University back in 2005. In his speech, he shared the pivotal moments in his life with these young graduates and condensed his life experiences into a short 15 mins speech.

He talked on the importance of living each day as if it was your last, the determination to pursue your passion and goals, and the courage to take all setbacks in stride. He mentioned that death is a common destination for all of us. Everything else pales in comparison with death and appealed to the young graduates to do something worthwhile in the short time that each and every one of us is given. Last but not least, he emphasized on the importance of staying hungry and staying foolish.

It seems fitting thus to end off with the realization that although a talented and brilliant visionary has passed on, the “baton” that he carried thus far will be taken up by the next generation. He left behind a legacy that will not be forgotten easily, a benchmark that will not be surpassed anytime soon, and he had definitely made a difference in the short time that was given to him.
